A former employee of the Municipality of La Plata was arrested for selling motorcycles that had been seized in various operations. The man, who used to work in the Public Spaces area, is being accused of fraud. The arrest of the former employee took place as a result of an extensive investigation carried out by agents of the Urban Prevention Guard of the Municipality, after receiving complaints from neighbors.
According to the accusation, the detainee presented himself as a municipal employee and offered the motorcycles at very low prices. He told the victims that it was a "legal system prior to the auction stage" and proposed acquiring the vehicles for a cost of $350,000. After being arrested, he was taken to the Novena police station, where it was confirmed that he had previously worked at the Municipality but no longer held any position.
Authorities emphasized that there is no legal system that allows for obtaining vehicles at a lower price before the official auction. Consequently, they urge reporting any irregularities of this type to help prevent such fraud.
